The first emperor was very harsh and cruel he killed a lot of people. He told his daughters to go to an old man and get a herb, that you never die. The emperor had a tomb where to bury him, and the best soldiers guard him because he is buried with lots of valuables. He took that herb but he has to have a pure heart he said he had a pure heart and he died as soon as he ate the herb.

Island of the Blue Dolphins

I would recommend Island of the Blue Dolphins to anyone who is interested in living of the land, so to speak. The story is about a young Indian girl who is abandoned on an island alone. It is based on the true story of a woman who actually lived on this island from 1835 to 1853.
I really didn't enjoy the book. It barely described any details, and sometimes went without telling anything for more than a year at a time. I realize 18 years would be a long time to fit into one book, so I won't go rambling on about it. But another thing I didn't like would be the grammar. No, no, don't get me wrong. I don't think there were any errors, but it was laid out very poorly. It is as if it were written by an Indian girl who very lately learned to speak English. Since it is supposed to be that, it should be fine, but I can't say I enjoyed reading it.

Orphan Train Rider By: Andrea Warren

This book, Orphan Train Rider is about a young boy who found a home after riding on the orphan train. I liked the book very much. It has sad parts, such as when Lee lost his little brother Gerald and almost lost Leo, but there are good parts, too. When both Lee and Leo are put in an orphanage after their mother died, they finally find a home with Mr. and Mrs. Rodgers. They both liked their home and were glad that they had been chosen to live with the couple. But, if you want to find out more, you'll have to read the book yourself! :)

THE VALUE OF GIVING

The book THE VALUE OF GIVING is a pretty good  book. But i could almost not understand it.        It  uses to hard vocabulary or the should at least put in a pronunciation chart but other wise i liked it i would rate it four and a half stars.

In a Class of Her own By:Kathleen Gould Lundy

In a Class of Her own is a book about Ruby Bridges and her first year in school. I enjoyed this book. Ruby is one of the first black children to enter a white only school and she was very brave about it. People threatened her and held up rude and bad signs. But that did not hold Ruby back. She got a good year of education and she had good grades.  Please read this book and find out more...

Cowboys don't cry

Cowboys don't cry. When I read this book, I really enjoyed it. It's really funny and emotional. Those are usually significant features in any book I like. It's written in first person from Shane Morgan's point of view. Shane is a fourteen year old boy; his mother died when he was nine. He and his father moved into a new home at the beginning of the book. It seems he attracts trouble when he got into a fight on one of his first days of school and is rescued by a girl. Personally, I don't find anything wrong with that, but, well...
Shane and his father don't seem to have a great relationship. Near the end of the story, Shane is sure his father has gotten over his drinking habit. But when he appears drunk, Shane blindly ended up hurting his father emotionally, and himself physically.

Nat turner's slave Rebellion

I think Nat Turner was brave because he fought to save the slaves. He had about 60 slaves and he killed a lot of white men that story thought me that black people are the same as white people and other colors too. Even though he thought it was difficult at first but with god helping him he fought well. But the worst part of all is he stole gold and silver and killed people too. Even though when he got hanged he never know that slaves were going to be free. But the people then recognized that what he had done and then they made slaves free.

Nellie in the News

Nellie in the News is good book (a graphic novel). Although the title isn't called by her name, Rosie Freedman is the main character in the story. Rosie is befriended by Nellie Bly in a soup kitchen. Afterwards, Nellie goes around the world and comes back in 80 days- no man or woman has ever done that. Some people don't believe that Rosie is Nellies friend, but she proves them wrong...

Across Five Aprils- Irene Hunt

Across Five Aprils is a book by Irene Hunt. She managed to make the book exciting and interesting as well, a trait not found frequently in this day and age.
The story is deeply touching, and reaches to grasp the feelings of people experiencing the heartbreak and terror of war.
The story itself is very interesting, dealing with issues of death, joy, contentment, innocence, honor, and responsibility.
The author is very specific and has talent to make the mixed up, confused feelings understandable. Though the characters don’t have the same thoughts of war as others, it is easy to understand how they came to that conclusion, how they decided which side of the Mason-Dixon Line has got ‘a head on their shoulders.’
Getting to know deserters, survivors, veterans, heroes, and rebels first hand and understanding their thoughts and opinions is another favorable feature of the book.
